  3. Thank you for evaluating Simple AR--"easy to use Accounts
  4. Receivable".  Please be sure that you received all of the
  5. following files

  7. AR.EXE          - the program
  8. AR.DOC          - user manual
  9. AR.HLP          - help file
  10. CFIL.EXE        - conversion program (needed only to upgrade from
  11.                   an earlier version of Simple AR) 
  12. COMPANY.CLA     - used by conversion program                  
  13. CONVERT.DOC     - instructions for using CFIL.EXE to upgrade                  
  14. FILE_ID.DIZ     - bulletin board "description in zip" file
  15. INSTALL.BAT     - installation batch file
  16. LICENSE.DOC     - Simple Simon Accounting user license
  17. REGISTER.DOC    - registration form
  18. RELEASE.DOC     - summary of changes with this release
  19. SHARWARE.DOC    - What is Shareware?
  20. READ.ME         - this file
  21. PC-8            - a useful file which puts a HP LaserJet into
  22.                   the PC Symbol set (so line graphics print--
  23.                   see below)

  35. IF YOU ARE CONVERTING FROM AN EARLIER RELEASE OF SIMPLE AR:

  37. You must run the conversion program on your existing COMPANY.DAT
  38. file.  Refer to the instructions contained in the CONVERT.DOC
  39. file.  If you do not run the conversion program, you will get
  40. a halt with the message "invalid record declaration."

  43. TO RUN OR INSTALL AFTER HAVING UNPACKING FROM ZIP ARCHIVE:
  44.  
  45. To print the documentation type COPY AR.DOC PRN and press Enter
  46. at the DOS prompt.
  47.  
  48. To print this file type COPY READ.ME PRN and press Enter at the
  49. DOS prompt.
  50.  
  51. To install Simple AR, type INSTALL and press Enter.  The data
  52. files will be created and the AR program started.  Press F1 to
  53. get help.

  55. To start Simple AR after it has been installed, type AR and 
  56. press Enter.
  57.  
  58. To register your copy of Simple AR, print the registration form
  59. by typing COPY REGISTER.DOC PRN; then press Enter.  Obtain a
  60. a registration code by filling out the form and mailing it as
  61. explained in AR.DOC.  When you have your registration code,
  62. complete your registration by typing AR /Rxxxxx; then press
  63. Enter (where xxxxx is the registration code).

  66. TO RUN OR INSTALL FROM CD-ROM:
  67.  
  68. To run from CD-ROM without installing the software on your hard
  69. disk (as you may wish to do for evaluation purposes), first create
  70. an empty directory where Simple AR can create its data files and log
  71. to that directory; then type X:\AR_SIM13\INSTALL, where X is the 
  72. drive letter of your CD-ROM.

  74. To install from CD-ROM, type the following lines (where your hard
  75. disk is drive c, your CD-ROM is drive X, and you wish to install
  76. into the \ar subdirectory--please change these assignments to match
  77. your system):

  80.      copy X:\ar_sim13 c:\ar
  81.      c:
  82.      cd \ar

  86. MINIMUM NECESSARY FILES TO RUN SIMPLE AR:

  88. Once Simple AR is installed, you may run it using only AR.EXE and AR.HLP.
  89. In addition, PC-8 may be useful to you (see below).  None of the other files
  90. are needed to run the program and may be safely removed from your system.
  91. (You should keep a copy of the original distribution file, typically
  92. AR_SIMxx.ZIP, where xx denotes the version number.)

  95. TO FIX PRINTING OF FUNNY CHARACTERS INSTEAD OF LINES AND BOXES:

  97. To print line graphics on an HP LaserJet, type COPY PC-8 PRN and
  98. press Enter.  You may need to do this each time before running 
  99. Simple AR if your LaserJet or compatible printer is printing
  100. "funny" characters in place of line graphics.
